Nepal earthquake: Georgia releases hotline numbers for its citizens in Kathmandu

Georgia is saddened by the massive earthquake that claimed more than 600 lives outside Kathmandu, Nepal on Saturday.

Georgia's Foreign Ministry is encouraging Georgian citizens in Nepal to contact the Georgian Embassy in India if they needed support or assistance by contacting one of the hotline numbers: +911147078602; +911149496000; +919560093233; +919560791004.

In a special statement today the Ministry also said Georgian officials had been touch with Nepali officials to get latest information about the deadly earthquake.

More than 600 people are known to have died in today’s powerful earthquake that struck Nepal, although many more feared trapped under rubble.

Furthermore, the earthquake triggered a deadly avalanche on Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain.

Nepali officials has asked for support from several international agencies that were more knowledgeable and better equipped to handle the kind of emergency the country faced.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck before noon and was most severely felt in the capital Kathmandu as well as the densely populated Kathmandu Valley. A magnitude 6.6 aftershock hit about an hour later and smaller aftershocks continued to ripple through the region for hours.
