Georgia’s Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili is on an official visit to Berlin, Germany, and attending the third East Forum Berlin 2015.

Kvirikashvili will participate in the panel discussions and deliver a speech during the event which is expected to generate an international audience of more than 200.

The forum will take place on April 22, 2015 in Berlin and is hosted by UniCredit, the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and METRO GROUP. The event is supported by the Governing Mayor of Berlin.

Organisers said the objective of this international conference, in view of the growing tensions in Europe, was to revive the vision of a common European economic space, stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok.

In this sense, Berlin was presenting itself as a venue for economic policy debates between East and West and as Europe’s start-up metropolis.

This year the East Forum Berlin will particularly focus on the impact of the Ukraine crisis, as well as looking at the current debate on a new EU Neighbourhood Policy. The event will also encourage participants to search for possible answers to the increasing confrontation between the EU and Russia.

About 250 representatives from the international business and political spheres from 25 countries are visiting Berlin to attend the forum today.

The results of the discussion rounds will be explained later this evening, after which the East Forum Berlin will end with a gala reception at the Allianz Forum at the Pariser Platz, near Brandenburg Gate.

As in previous years, this year’s East Forum Berlin will also be framed by side events focusing on individual countries and regions.
