Georgia’s Under 18 national rugby team are celebrating their historic semi-final victory by defeating Italy and are gearing up to play France in the final of the Elite Division of the 2015 Rugby Europe U18 Championship.

This is the first time in Georgian rugby history that the young Georgian team will play in the Elite Division final.

Georgia, who gained a score of 6-all at the end of their match against Italy, managed to qualify for the final after a penalty shoot-out in Albi, France. The Georgians won the shoot-out 5-4.

This came after the teenage Georgians knocked out Ireland in the previous round also after a penalty shoot-out.

This was a remarkable achievement for the Georgian side, who started the tournament as the seventh seed.

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed his excitement about the victory in a tweet.

The final will be held at Ernest-Wallon Stadium in France, on Saturday, April 4 at 5pm (7pm Tbilisi time).
