Georgia is gearing up to host joint military drills with the NATO Rapid Reaction Force for the first time.
The United States (US)-Georgia joint exercise, named Noble Partner, will be carried out on the territory of Vaziani military air field and military firing-ground near Tbilisi on May 11-25.
This will be the first time exercises of this nature will be conducted in Georgia.
The goal of the Nobel Partner drills is the convergence of Georgian military with the NATO Rapid Reaction Force, as well as preparation for participation in future operations and drills of NATO.
The 12th Battalion of the First Light Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Armed Forces, a mechanized company of 42nd Battalion of IV Mechanized Brigade and a military police platoon will take part in the exercise from the Georgian side, while from the US side, those involved will be the companies of armored personnel carriers of M2 Bradley and paratroopers.
A final planning conference of the Noble Partner US-Georgia joint exercise was held on February in Vaziani.
