Fans name Tbilisi final as UEFA football match of the year

The UEFA Super Cup final match on Tbilisi's Dinamo Arena earlier this year has been named the match of the year by fans in a special Twitter poll on Saturday.

More than 75,000 supporters cast their votes in the UEFA poll asking them about the year's best footballing spectacle.

The Tbilisi final between FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC was revealed as the winner of the survey with 45% of the votes.

The thrilling match in Georgia's capital produced a goalscoring record for Super Cup finals, with nine goals delighting the attending 51,490 fans - another record for the tournament.

Barcelona overcame the fierce resistance of their Spanish rivals with a score of 5-4 after extra time, their forward Pedro Rodriguez scoring the crucial goal on 115 minutes.
