Georgia is making it as easy as possible for travellers to visit the country following the introduction of the country’s first electronic visa (e-visa) online service.

Today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia launched the country’s first e-visa portal allowing tourists and business visitors to apply for a short term visa via the website www.evisa.gov.ge.

Meanwhile, Check if your country is on the visa-free list.

This new online service will allow tourists from 102 countries the possibility to apply for a Georgian visa in a more simplified way.

Those interested in applying for a Georgian visa should visit the website, complete the online application form, pay with a credit or debit card and then print out the e-visa. The e-visa grants the same right to enter Georgian territory as ordinary sticker-visa’s in a traveller’s passport.

Any person can apply for an e-visa anywhere at any time – the only thing you need is an internet connection.

Previously tourists had to apply for an appropriate visa through a Georgian Embassy.

The Government of Georgia believed the new e-visa option will provide "a major boost" to the country's tourism sector.

The e-visa system has successfully worked in Georgia’s neigbouring countries Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as in Australia, Singapore and Vietnam.

If applicants face technical problems or need further details they can receive assistance by e-mailing the consular department at contact@evisa.gov.ge or call the hotline (2 94 50 50)
