Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has published an open statement about the fourth and final progress report on Georgia’s implementation of its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP), released by the European Commission today.

"I welcome the European Commission's report on [Georgia’s] implementation of its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan, which completely reflects the progress Georgia has made in the past three years,” said Margvelashvili in his statement.

Georgia’s President said in the shortest time Georgia could fully satisfy all the requirements the Action Plan set for the country meaning next year Georgian citizens could enjoy visa free travel to the EU.

He said Georgia could only achieve this next success if everyone worked together in unity.

"From now on we have a very important process ahead which should be crowned with a decision from the European Union which will open the EU’s borders officially for Georgian citizens,” said Margvelashvili.

"Our goal is to go through this process with dignity and use all our efforts to achieve this goal in the shortest time possible. I am sure the Georgian Government, Parliament, political forces and society will be united to achieve our European choice,” he said.

"Our choice is European choice; Europe is our prosperity and progress; More Europe in Georgia and more Georgia in Europe,” he added.

At the end of his statement Margvelashvili promised he would get actively involved in all future process related to the achievement of Georgia’s "strategic goal”.
