CNN: Is Georgia the world’s cradle of wine? [VIDEO]

"Visit Kakheti, Georgia's lush wine-producing region and find out why many believe the country is the world's cradle of wine”.

This was how leading American media outlet CNN reported on a segment on Georgia while following the Silk Road route starting from Armenia and continuing into Georgia.

A group of CNN journalist visited Georgia to explore the country’s wine-making traditions and to show Georga’s role in Silk Road idea – past, present and future.

The first place CNN visited in Georgia was capital Tbilisi. A journalist was impressed with the "fascinating mix of architecture” in Tbilisi.

You have got 19th Century European style buildings … Soviet era architecture, of course, and then the medieval churches … it is absolutely beautiful,” said the journalist.

In the clip the reporter then told the audience a story of how Tbilisi was founded and showed the city’s Old Baths that were built on hot springs.

CNN also filmed one of Tbilisi’s most famous markets where vendors sell old household items.

During their exploration of Tbilisi, the CNN group discovered many wine bars and wine shops before they travelled east to Georgia’s wine-making Kakheti region. It was here the group learned traditional ways of making Georgian wine.
