Tbilisi is continuing to recover from June 13 deadly flash flood.

New recreation zones and resting areas will soon be built in the streets which suffered the most damage in the June 13 flood, official said.

New public areas on Chikovani and Kostava streets in the Saburtalo district of central Tbilisi are already under construction.

Local officials said the parks would have modern facilities made of environmentally friendly materials.

Saburtalo gamgebeli (local Governor) Beka Mikautadze said the flood destroyed the sport arena on Chikovani St and this would be restored in 2016. He added a retaining wall would first need to be built to support the rest of the construction.

The June 13 flood was Tbilisi’s worst human and infrastructural disaster in years, which claimed the lives of 20 people. Two others are still missing.
