Georgia will link Chinese and US cities through new flights

China is establishing closer transport links with Georgia and offering passengers the chance to travel to several places in the United States (US).
From today one of China's top three carriers, China Southern Airlines, is launching new routes from Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport to several Chinese and US cities.
In particular, the airline added a new service linking Chinese cities Urumqi and Guangzhou with US cities New York, Toronto and Los Angeles through Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi.
The new routes were:
- Tbilisi-Ürümqi;
- Tbilisi-Urumqi-Guangzhou-New York;
- Tbilisi-Urumqi-Guangzhou-Toronto; and
- Tbilisi-Urumqi-Guangzhou-Los Angeles.
China Southern Airlines started its first direct flights between China and Georgia on June 9, 2011.
The flights from Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport to Urumqi, capital of the country's far western region of Xinjiang. The flights are carried out three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday by Boeing 737 and Boeing 757 aircrafts.
Travelling between Barcelona and Tbilisi could soon become easier after – a Spanish low-cost airline is showing interest to enter the Georgian market.
More planes will be flying between Georgian and Turkish skies when another Turkish airline enters the Georgian market.
With the summer aviation season now in full swing, Georgia is offering more flights into and out of the country.
New flights are being introduced to better connect Georgia’s seaside resort Batumi with Aktau, Kazakhstan’s main seaport on the Caspian Sea.
Ukrainian airline YanAir is renewing flights between the capital cities of Georgia and Ukraine for the summer tourist season.
Georgian Airways is starting multiple charter flights to Russia. Georgia’s national carrier will link capital Tbilisi to Russia’s third largest city Novosibirsk from June 14.
Kazakhstan’s growing airline, Bek Air, is launching flights between Georgia and Kazakhstan this month.
One of Egypt’s carriers is launching direct flights between Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and Egypt’s seaside resort town Hurghada.
New direct flights between Tbilisi and Tehran will launch next month, said Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania after signing a twinning agreement between the two cities today.
Tbilisi International Airport will be closed to daytime flights for four months due to maintenance works on the runway.
