University entrants, tertiary students and teachers in Georgia will take part of their exams in digital format next year, the National Assessment and Examination Centre announced today.

The technical novelty will mean those taking exams will receive tasks on a computer screen but will continue using paper for marking and writing answers.

The Centre said the new exam method would be tested over the next two months in a selected exam centre in Georgia, with samples of the digitised test published on the organisation’s website in late November.

Those who will be eligible to take digital exams are students taking university entrance exams, tertiary students and teachers who want to upgrade their qualifications.

Exams for final school year students will remain unchanged, the Centre announced.

More than 28,000 students were accepted into universities across Georgia in the latest National Exams in August after they sat an exam system that was first introduced in 2005 to replace the old Soviet model.
