Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili offered his congratulations to Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev after the New Azerbaijan party, led by Aliyev, celebrated victory in the country’s Parliamentary Elections on Sunday.
Early results showed Aliyev’s ruling party won at least 70 of the Parliament’s 125 seats, allowing the party to retain the majority in the legislative body.
I would like to extend my congratulations to Azerbaijan’s ruling party New Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev and our friendly Azeri people,” Garibashvili said in his congratulatory letter today, which also stressed the importance of Azerbaijan’s "advance and development” for the country’s partnership with Georgia.
Within his congratulation address, Garibashvili said he believed Azerbaijan was on a path that served "peace, stability and well-being in the Caucasus”.
