Georgia will cooperate with European motorcycling authorities to host international tournaments and develop national motorcycling.
This news was revealed following a bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs in capital Tbilisi on Tuesday.
Georgia’s Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Tariel Khechikashvili and his Deputy Shalva Gogoladze discussed prospects of the sport in Georgia with European Motorcycling Union (FIM Europe) Vice President Michel Turk, who travelled to Tbilisi for the meeting.
The officials agreed to carry out a joint project aimed at gaining formal recognition for the Georgian National Motosport Federation with international federations, paving the way for closer cooperation and concrete steps for enabling Georgia to host international motorcycling competitions.
Founded in 1996, FIM Europe is part of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and involves 47 national federations.
Based in Rome, Italy, the Union owns sporting rights for the FIM-organised motorcycling events of various categories in Europe and also works to promote motorcycling tourism.
