Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili is going to Israel on a state visit today.
The President, accompanied by his wife Maka Chichua, is scheduled to attend a number of events in Israel, including several that were specifically planned to honour the Georgian guests.
An official welcoming ceremony for the Georgian President will be held at the Israeli Presidential Palace, where the two Presidents will hold a face-to-face meeting then make a joint statement for media.
An official dinner hosted by the Israeli President and the First Lady in honour of the Georgian presidential couple was also planned at the Presidential Palace.
Margvelashvili is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu within the state visit.
He will also visit the Knesset (Israel's Parliament), where meetings will be held with Parliament Chairman Yuli Edelstein and leader of the Parliament Opposition Chaim Herzog.
While in Israel the Georgian President will visit the Holocaust Museum and lay a wreath at the memorial of the Holocaust victims.
Margvelashvili and Chichua will also visit Israeli children's hospitals.
At the end of the trip Margvelashvili will deliver a speech to students and researchers at the ICD research centre.
The Georgian presidential couple were scheduled to return home on October 20.
