Georgia’s most popular winter resort is undergoing a transformation to equip the facility with the latest technology and infrastructure ahead of an anticipated busy winter season.

Today an agreement was signed between the Georgian company responsible for developing the Gudauri winter resort and a leading Canadian development company to make the area even more attractive for visitors.

Georgia’s Mountain Resorts Development Company, a state enterprise tasked with managing and developing the Gudauri and Bakuriani ski resorts, signed the deal today with Canada’s Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners that envisaged creating a master plan for the Georgian resort.

The agreement was signed in South Korea within the second conference of European and Asian Ski Resorts.

Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners, based at Whistler Mountain in British Columbia, will be responsible for developing a plan for Gudauri that will specify the area’s future infrastructural development.

The Canadian side said the overall concept of the resort development plan will focus on the area’s potential capacity; such as mountain’s personnel capacity, the size of the area and the marketing potential of the resort.

Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners said its plan would specify the locations of a new cableway, additional ski tracks, parking zones, hotels, food areas and entertainment facilities.
