Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili has attended an evening reception hosted by United States (US) President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, attended by dozens of world leaders from all over the globe.
The traditional reception was a sideline event of the 70th session of the United Nation’s General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Interacting with other world leaders was a priority of the Georgian official, who earlier held several bilateral meetings with other country officials.
Garibashvili met his Moldovan counterpart Valeriu Strelet after which the Georgian Prime Minister announced he would visit Moldova. The trip would happen before the end of this year, followed by a visit by Strelet to Georgia.

Moldova and Georgia are two countries that aspire to European Union (EU) integration. Moldova has already enjoyed visa liberalisation with the EU – something Georgia is still trying to achieve.
Meanwhile yesterday Garibashvili attended a reception hosted by the EU Commission’s First Vice President Frans Timmermans and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
The Georgian PM will continue to attend high profile meetings until his US trip ends on October 3.
