In less than an hour Georgia will take to the field in its first match against Tonga at the biggest event in the world rugby calendar - the Rugby World Cup 2015.
The tussle will take place at Kingsholm, England at 12pm local time (3pm Georgia time) and broadcast live on Georgian Public Broadcasting Channel 1.
Vasil Lobzhanidze, 18, will become the youngest player in the Rugby World Cup history when he takes to the field for Georgia this afternoon.
The head coaches of the opposite teams praised each other’s’ strength before the game.
Georgia’s Milton Haig said: "They have a big forward pack and they are big carriers - that’s their game. They like to get over the advantage line and when they do that consistently they create problems for people.”
Likewise, Mana ‘Otai of Tonga was wary of Georgia’s physical presence and reckoned there would be a boxer-like back-and-forth between the two teams.
He said: "It is similar to a boxing match. We have got to try to take their strengths out and apply our own. I believe we have the athleticism and experience as well but one of the basic fundamentals of rugby is to look after your set-piece very well and that’s an area we have been working very hard on.”
Georgia and Tonga are in Pool C of the competition, along with Argentina, Namibia and current world champions the All Blacks from New Zealand.
