The people of Hungary are honouring the memory of the victims of the disastrous June 13 flood in Tbilisi, which caused the deaths of 23 people.

A special ceremony was held within the annual Danube Day in Budapest, which was dedicated to the victims of all floods around the world.

The event was organised by a local non-governmental organisation (NGO). It’s Secretary General Laszlo Bota delivered a speech at the ceremony and spoke about the Tbilisi June 13 tragedy.

Bota also talked about Georgia and its ancient culture.

Representatives of the Georgian Embassy to Hungary participated in the Danube Day activities and released a corona into the river in memory of the Tbilisi flood victims. The audience then honoured the deceased Georgians with a minute of silence.

About 400 people from up to 80 Tbilisi families lost everything in the June 13 flood. Additionally, about 300 animals from Tbilisi Zoo died in the natural disaster.
