With ten days to go before the official opening of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2015, the Olympic Flame is preparing to enter Georgia’s capital city.

Tomorrow Tbilisi locals are invited to gather in Freedom Square in the central city to welcome the Olympic Flame. The flame will arrive at 8pm before a large public concert is held to celebrate the event.

Yesterday Georgian Prime Minister reminded the public that the important youth sporting festival was nearly here and posted a picture of the Olympic sign installed on the hill at Mtsatsminda Park, at the highest point of Tbilisi overlooking the whole city.

"Tbilisi is ready for the European Youth Olympic Festival,” read the caption of PM Irakli Garibashvili's picture.

Today he said Georgia had worked hard to prepare for EYOF 2015.

"We significantly helped to provide security at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. Now we are hosting this festival and it is very important that every state contributes to ensuring a peaceful environment during the EYOF 2015,” he said.

If you are currently in Tbilisi feel free to join tomorrow’s celebration dedicated to the first ever Olympic Games being held in Georgia.

The 13th EYOF will open in Tbilisi on July 26 and continue until August 1. Nine sporting codes will be represented at Tbilisi 2015: judo, tennis, artistic gymnastics, cycling, athletics, swimming, volleyball, handball and basketball.

Almost 3,500 young athletes from 49 nations will visit Tbilisi for the EYOF, which will be covered by more than 300 international and local media outlets. As well as organisers, more than 2,000 volunteers aged 17-78 will take part in the event.
