Georgian Book Corner opens in National Library of Catalonia, Barcelona

More than 200 Georgian books are on their way to National Library of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain, where a Georgian book corner will be established.

Avid readers and lovers of foreign literature can soon enjoy Georgian books at the National Library of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.

A Georgian book corner at the National Library of Catalonia will officially open later this month.

More than a 200 Georgian books are on their way to the Barcelona library, where a Georgian book corner will be established on June 26.

Barcelona is the 21st city around the globe where libraries have opened up a special space for Georgian books.

The Georgian book corner does not contain only Georgian pieces of writings; it also includes foreign language literature about Georgia,” said director of Georgia’s National Library Giorgi Kekelidze.

The opening of the Georgian Book Corner in Barcelona became possible after active work of Georgia’s Consul in Barcelona Beka Zarandia, as well as through assistance of Turkish Airlines who transported books to Catalonia. 

Meanwhile, to mark the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day, which is celebrated annually on May 26, a Georgian Book Corner opened at the Forest Hills Library in New York, United States.

Library staff announced about 100 books for adults and children have been donated to the Georgia Book Corner in the Forest Hills Library.

Looking ahead, Georgian book corners will soon open in libraries in the United Kingdom, Australia, Portugal and Poland.
