Georgian Embassies around the world are starting to celebrate Georgia’s 97th Independence Day.
The Georgian Embassy in Hungary today held an official reception ceremony to celebrate Georgia’s Independence Day, which is marked each year on May 26.
Hungarian politicians, diplomats and invited guests attended the special ceremony at the Embassy of Georgia in Budapest.
Georgia’s Ambassador to Hungary Zaza Kandelaki opened the ceremony. In his speech he emphasised the reforms undertaken by the Georgian Government, the country's recent achievements and future aspirations.
Kandelaki thanked Hungary for its support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and its European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations.
A Hungarian vocal group named Ars Nova Sacra performed Georgian and Hungarian anthems at today’s celebration, while Georgian chants and works of Georgian and Hungarian composers were performed.
In addition, a photo exhibition of images captured in Georgia by a young Hungarian photographer was held at the celebration. The photographer travelled to Georgia in 2013 and 2014 and took images of Georgia’s landscape, culture and people.
Guests at the event also tasted Georgian wine and traditional dishes.
