Georgian judoka wins gold at IBSA World Games

Georgia is celebrating after a Georgian judoka was crowned world champion at the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) World Games in Seoul, South Korea.

Zviad Gogotchuri competed in the under 90kg class and won all of his five fights, where he impressively defeated Korean, Ukrainian, Canadian, Uzbek and British athletes.

In the final fight, the Georgian athlete met Brit Samuel Ingram, who gained a bronze medal in the 2012 London Paralympics. 

This was Gogotchuri’s first international tournament. He marked his debut with a gold medal.

The Seoul 2015 IBSA World Games featured competitions in ten disciplines: Athletics (IPC approved), Football (B1), Football (B2-B3), Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Showdown, Swimming (IPC approved), Tenpin Bowling and Chess.
