A luxury hotel chain is set to begin operating in the heath and spa resort area of Likani by the end of this year.
Likani is located about 160km west of the capital city Tbilisi.
The investor companies behind the Rixos Hotel project are Georgia's JSC Partnership Fund's (PF), a state-owned shareholding company, and Kazmunaigaz Service Ltd, who provides oil and gas exploration and production services. The parties announced they had signed-off on a deal to allocate the final fund ($18,300 USD) to close the construction works.
In total, $38.5 million USD is being invested in the hotel project. The participation of investor companies are matched equally at 50 percent each.
Apart from expanding the hospitality industry, the Fund’s Executive Director Irakli Kovzanadze believed the new hotel would bring additional appeal to the spa resort.
"The introduction and operation of such a high-class international brand such as Rixos is very important for the Georgian hospitality sector. We will spare no efforts or resources to make it a truly high-quality project,” Kovzanadze said.
Borjomi is well known for its mineral waters, which has been revered for centuries for having positive healing effects on people with digestion disorders.
It is expected the Rixos Hotel chain will launch a hotel in Tbilisi too. Plans revealed Rixos Residence will be located near the museum on Gudiashvili St. The luxury 5-star Rixos Residence will consist of 60 apartments and about 40 shops of famous brands.
Rixos Hotels established in 2000 and is one of the world’s fastest-growing luxury hotel chains. The Antalya-based group owns and operates 14 resorts and villas, including five city hotels in Turkey, Southeast Europe, CIS countries, North Africa and the Middle East.
