Georgian villages inhabited by few people will receive more funding to help the villages’ develop.
Within the Rural Support Program, village with a population of less than 50 people will gain a portion of an additional 1.1 million GEL.
The total amount to be allocated to such villages in 2014 is slightly less than 50 million GEL. About 500 villages in six municipalities fit this category.
The decision was made at today’s Government meeting. The issue prepared by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
The projects implemented in the Rural Support Program produced opportunities to improve local infrastructure and employment of the local population.
In six municipality of Georgia -Kakheti, Svaneti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Dusheti, Tianeti and Kazbegi - there are 511 sparsely populated villages.
