Georgian travel enthusiasts can broaden their horizons thanks to a new regular flight service direct to Hungary.
Hungarian airline WizzAir has added new regular flight to Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
The first flight will depart from Kutaisi International Airport on September 30, 2014.
From then, the flights will depart twice a week, said Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili at a briefing today.
The cost of one-way travel will start from €29.99.
"Citizens will have the possibility to fly to Europe for a low price. Meanwhile, it is also useful for enhancing relations with Hungary,” Kumsishvili said.
WizzAir is one of the largest low-cost airlines in Central and Eastern Europe.
Since it opened on September 27, 2012, the Kutaisi International Airport has provided air transport for more than 226 000 passengers. Of this, the Hungarian airline were responsible for transporting almost 200 000 passengers.
Each year WizzAir transport 170 000 passengers, on average. The company planned to double this figure during summer 2014.
The company’s latest annual figures reveal a 1000% increase in flights from Kutaisi to Europe.
WizzAir offers flights to many European destinations, including Kiev, Donetsk, Kharkov, Katowice and Warsaw. Flights to Vilnius and Lvov will be added to the list from March 2014.
