A high-raking European Union official has announced the future visit of European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

Georgia will be host the visit in June, announced European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule.

The announcement was made at a joint press conference between Fule and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili after their meeting today.

Garibashvili said the European official’s visits confirmed steady support of the EU to Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Fule stated the Free Trade and Association Agreements were on the agenda of his discussion with Garibashvili. He also noted that the situation in Ukraine was an important issue and stressed that Georgia continued to face challenges from the Russian side.

Talks on implementing a visa free regime between Georgia and EU countries was still underway, the Commissioner underlined. He said it depended on how far Georgia delivered on expectations.

"Here Moldova is a good example and I underline the importance of the anti-discrimination law and I stress that despite what some critics are saying, it is not about imposing anything on traditional Georgian values. It is about universal values of non-discrimination,” Fule stated.
