Georgia’s Olympic figure skater Elene Gedevanisvhili has made her first appearance at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
Yesterday, Wednesday February 19, was the first day of the Ladies Free Skating competition at the Iceberg Skating Palace.
Gedevanishvili was ranked 17th after her routine on ice.
Performing to Tango Selection music, the 24-year-old scored 54.70 in her first appearance in the ladies short program. Her total score was made up of two sections – she gained 27.51 for her technical elements and 17.19 for her program components score.
The 2014 Sochi Olympics are the third winter Games Gedevanishvili has attended, who was ranked 17th of 29 participants after the first day of competition.
Gedevanishvili’s fans described her routine as 'pretty', 'cool' and said her jump was 'precise', on Twitter.
Results at the end of Wednesday's short program saw Yuna Kim of Korea lead the standings with a score of 74.92, followed by Russia’s 17-year-old Adelina Sotnikova, who gained a score of 74.64.
Gedevanishvili's next performance in Ladies Free Skating is scheduled for tomorrow, February 21. The Georgian figure skater will perform at number eight.
