Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has "strictly condemned” the use of force in Kiev last night and expressed its solidarity toward the Ukrainian people.
"We convey our condolences to the families of those killed or injured, which among them unfortunately, was a Georgian citizen too,” the Ministry’s statement read.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry said it had joined the international community in calling on the Ukrainian Government to find peaceful solutions to the tense situation.
"Each government is obliged to respect its people’s decisions and provide them with freedom of expression,” the Ministry said.
"We once again express our solidarity to Ukrainian people in this extremely hard moment and we believe the only alternative to overcome this political crisis is a peaceful dialogue.”
Earlier today, Georgian Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili expressed his hopes that the international society would find the strength to solve the confrontation in Ukraine.
"I offer my sympathy to the Ukrainian people. Similar processes are closely connected to each other in the globalised world. The Parliament of Georgia adopted two resolutions in regard to the Ukrainian processes. We cannot do anything else but I think the international society will find the strength to solve the confrontation,” Usupashvili said at the bureau session and added that Georgia’s solidarity to the Ukrainian people remained unchanged.
