Charity recipients to be exempt from taxes

All beneficiaries who are supported by domations or receive financial aid from charity organisations for medical treatment will be exempt from paying income tax.

Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri noted the following changes would be included in the tax code.

Khaduri said this initiative of the Georgian Government was directed towards supporting charitable activities.

"The following benefit amount will be considered in the next year’s tax income of the individual’s family. Therefore, these people will be exempt from property taxes,” he said.

Khaduri also noted that the provision would apply to legal relations arising from January 1, 2014.

"This initiative encourage more charitable activities and will be a significant benefit to our fellow citizens who are already facing huge costs,” Khaduri noted.
