Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze is taking off his suit and tie and putting on a football strip today after being invited to take part in a world team football charity match.
At 8pm this evening (Astana time) the world team, comprising of former top players from all over the world, will play against Kazakh team FC Kairat in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Kairat.
The Georgian Minister has an impressive football history and said he was "delighted” to play for the second time in the world team but this time as a minister.
"I always try to make a contribution to charity. I have done everything and will do everything to put a small brick in place to help poor and diseased people,” Kaladze said.
In his football days Kaladze captained the Georgian national football team, played for Dinamo Tbilisi, FC Diyamo Kyiv, AC Milan and Genoa CFC.
Kaladze is one of 18 players to play for the world team in the charity match under the coaching expertise of Fabio Capello.
The world team is:
Goalkeepers - Francesco Toldo, Jens Lehmann.
Defenders – Paolo Maldini, Javier Zanetti, Alessandro Costacurta, Kakha Kaladze, Fabio Cannavaro, Christian Panucci.
Midfielders – Serginho, Rivaldo, Luis Figo, Leonardo, Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf.
Forwards – Andrey Shevchenko, Christian Vieri, Dwight Yorke.
