People with passion of new modern art and architectural installation in a contemporary setting are invited to an art exhibition showcasing the creative work of artists from Georgia and abroad.

Akhalkalaki village, meaning ‘new city’ in Georgia’s Kaspi region are hosting the two-day International Festival of Contemporary Art 2014.

The festival, commonly called Fest I Nova 2014 and honoured the Zdanevich Brothers, continues its six year-long tradition this year. The courtyard and interior space of the Art Villa Garikula hosted the contemporary visual art show from September 14-16.

The theme of this year’s festival was Opus Mixtum, which means ‘mixed work’ in Latin – and is exactly what the contemporary art festival was all about, said organisers on the festival website.

Opus Mixtum has united Holland, France and the United States in the exhibition spaces of Art Villa Garikula.

The American Pavilion section of the festival said this year’s exhibition was "another unforgettable journey and artistic adventure – presenting an exhilarating program across architecture, film and visual arts.”

Overall, festival organisers said Fest i Nova was driven by the passion to create an environment where artists can live and work together as one team.

On show at the Fest i Nova will be an array of contemporary art forms including large-scale sculptures, visual arts and performances.
