President Giorgi Margvelashvili calls on all Ukrainian sides to take care of two main values - a human life and a country’s unity.

"We feel pain seeing that there are victims in Ukraine. We care about Ukraine and are concerned, and hope a humanitarian disaster does not happen in Ukraine,” Margvelashvili said.

The Georgian leader claimed he had been expressing his position towards Ukraine since the Vilnius Summit in November 2013.

"It would be very interesting to know if Ukraine, just like Georgia, were involved in the European processes,” he said.

Margvelashvili said he supported the Ukrainian people’s choice and believed peaceful and rational dialogue would be the best way to solve the problem.

"Ukraine has its own elected government and we cannot directly interfere in its inner affairs,” Margvelashvili said.

Several people have died in clashes between police and protesters in Kiev and hundreds of people have been injured. The tension is high and the situation remains critical in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.
