The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its deep sorrow at the death and injury of people in Kiev, and offered its condolences to the victims families.

"Georgia respects the right of each and every country to define its foreign policy priorities, but, at the same time, expects every country to comply with the principles of freedom of assembly and freedom of speech and expression, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an official  statement.

The Ministry has called on the Ukrainian Government and protesters to refrain from using force to resolve their issues and instead use dialogue to diffuse the situation.

"We sincerely wish to see Ukraine, along with Georgia, as part of one big "European family", and as a country which shares all of Europe's values, the Ministry statement said.
