A European Commission high official and Foreign Ministers of several countries will attend the ratification of Georgia’s European Union (EU) Association Agreement (AA) on July 18.

European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule and the Foreign Ministers of Latvia and Bulgaria will arrive in Kutaisi – Georgia’s second largest city - to attend a special Parliament meeting on Friday.

"Fule was closest to these events. The negotiations [between Georgia and the EU] happened with his help,” said Georgia’s Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili.

He noted together with international guests, the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibahsvili would also attend the meeting where Georgia’s Parliament will ratify the AA.

Georgia’s EU partnership deal was signed on June 27 in Brussels. It has already been ratified by Romania and Lithuania. The document needs to be approved by all 28 EU member countries before it can come into force.
