Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili is in Prague to participate in the Summit dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Eastern Partnership.
Margvelashvili will make a speech tomorrow, on the second day of the event, the President’s Press Office reported.
The Summit is being attended by the Presidents of Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia. The Ukrainian delegation was represented by the country’s Foreign Minister.
The two-day summit aimed to assess the progress achieved in the approach of Eastern Partnership member-states to the European Union, as well as highlight the challenges and future perspective of the Eastern Partnership.
Within the framework of the global event, Margvelashvili met his Moldovan counterpart Nicolae Timofti.
The parties discussed the two countries cooperation perspectives said the Eastern Partnership initiative had been an opportunity to further stimulate their bilateral relationship.
The Eastern Partnership is a foreign policy initiative of the European Union, which comprises six EU’s eastern European neighbours – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
The partnership provides the possibility to renew the legal basis of the EU relations with the eastern neighbours by means of replacing the acting agreements on partnership and cooperation with the Association Agreements and creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (DCFTA).
