295 Georgian soldiers returned home from Afghanistan. According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, military servicemen of the Batumi light infantry battalion were greeted in the airport by the Deputy Ministers Mikheil Darchiashvili and Giorgi Gegechkori, as well as the Chief of Joint Staff General-Mayor Vakhtang Kapanadze.
"I want to thank each one of the soldiers. Their efforts are highly appreciated by our American and European partners. I also want to congratulate their families and loved ones on the safe return of our boys, said Mikheil Darchiashvili.
According to General-Mayor Kapanadze, two battalions are getting ready for the rotation replacement.
Batumi light infantry battalion has completed the ISAF mission in the Helmand province. The main task of the battalion was to neutralize insurgent forces, to support the development of local government and national security forces, to control the security zones and to cooperate with US Marines.
