Georgia hosts a cyber-security seminar

A cyber and informational security workshop opened today in the NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP) office. Georgian Minister of defense Irakli Gegechkori, head of the NATO PFP office William Lahue and the Ambassador of Republic of Estonia Priit Turk opened the training course today.

The three-day event is held with the support of the Ministrys Professional Development Center and NATO Professional Development Program (PDP). During the seminar, Estonian experts working in the field of cyber security will share their experience with the Georgian colleagues

The first day of the training course was dedicated to the government officials working on strategic levels in the field of cyber and informational security. Representatives of governmental, non-governmental and private organizations took part in the seminar.

For three days, Georgian and Estonian experts will discuss international cyber space, cyber-crime, national cyber security, informational war, and different dimensions of security on individual, organizational, national, and international levels. They will also formulate a common vision and agree on the prospects of future development.

The Informational and Cyber Security Seminar is held in Georgia for the second time. Cyber security became important for Georgia after August 2008, when Georgia experienced a cyber-attack.
