President Margvelashvili participated in Para Friends Club presentation event

Member of the Paralympics Committee was asked by her boyfriend to marry him during the event.

The National Paralympics Committee's friends club was presented today to the public. The presentation was also attended by the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili.

In order to develop the paralympic sports in Georgia, the Paralympics Committee decided to launch the friends club which was joined by journalists, sportsmen, businessmen and various members of the private sector.

As Giorgi Margvelashvili said, it is extremely important to support this kind of event.

"We clearly recognize priorities that people under any condition have to be given a chance to express themselves. We clearly see that if a person is disabled to some extent, then he is especially strong and able in other ability. The system has to be built in a way that those people were given a chance to express their abilities and infrastructure, and the environment has to be arranged to be comfortable for anyone in Georgia", President said.

The Para Friends Club's purposeis to develop and promote paralympic sports in Georgia. Friends Club is open for everyone who shares the idea and principles of the Paralympics.

On the grounds of the Memorandum signed in 2013 with the Ministry of Defense, soldiers wounded while in peacekeeping mission are also going to be included in the Paralympics movement. They also attended the presentation event.

Later in the evening, Margvelashvili shared a photo of a couple on his Facebook page, stating one of the representatives of Paralympics Committee, the fencer Irma Khetsuriani was asked by her boyfriend to marry him.

"I would like to wish them happiness and health", Margvelashvili wrote as a caption for the photo.

The National Paralympics Committee is preparing for the Paralympics Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and plans to participate in the following sports: swimming, fencing, archery, sports dances, shooting, para canoeing and bicycling.The National Paralympics Committee has been active in Georgia since 2003.
