Acting National Bank Governor, Asian Development Bank President discuss financial stability, macroeconomic trends

Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, on Friday discussed current macroeconomic trends and questions of financial stability, as well as the body’s policy for controlling inflation during a meeting with Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Asian Development Bank. 

The NBG said Turnava focused on the “innovative policy” of the central bank, including projects for the development of the domestic fintech ecosystem and electronic services. She also said the ADB was “one of the main supporters” of the “multifaceted, sustainable and inclusive” development of the country. 

Next year, the annual meeting of the ADB will be held in our country for the first time, which is of great importance. Georgia will host high high-ranking delegations, representatives of international financial institutions and the private sector. In our country, we will have the opportunity to present Georgia's investment potential on global platforms and to establish new contacts”, she said.

The meeting also discussed efforts aimed at resuming the International Monetary Fund-supported Stand-By Arrangement with Georgia, suspended in September. The officials also discussed steps taken by the National Bank in response to “global challenges”.
